Puppet Theater

It tells the story of a young woman who loves stories, and who, motivated by the mysterious existence of a house full of books in the middle of the forest, sets off one morning in that search.

The young Nuria will find the house and the possibility of carrying only one book at a time; also, a small door with a “Do not open” sign. The discovery of the books excites the protagonist, while the mystery of the door arouses her curiosity. 

Nuria will borrow a book and at sunset she will read it aloud in the town square. He will go back and forth three times with a different book, and each time, as he reads aloud in the town square, more people will gather to enjoy his stories.

Finally, on the last visit to the house in the woods, the young woman will reveal the mystery of the closed door, which in turn becomes the outcome of the story.

 

The work, of its own authorship, incorporates elements of oral tradition, such as a frame story in which other stories are intertwined, the repetition of three intense ones and the appearance of characters such as fairies and dragons, among others.

 

In the moments in which Nuria reads the books aloud, the narration is combined with rear projections of slides that illustrate and complement the text in a suggestive way (in the book-album style).

 

For the creation of these projections, resources such as live drawing, shadows, kinerama, flap games, etc. have been explored, with the purpose of achieving movement through analog technology. The techniques and materials used have been inks, watercolors, openwork and collages, among others.

In this way, the work aims to awaken an attentive and subtle look and listen, with a rhythm of word and text that trusts the sensitivity of the public. 

Betting, in times of technological overstimulation, to rescue poetic beauty and amazement at the simple.

 

In addition, the work is a tribute to the ancestral profession of storytellers, while rescuing the importance of following one's own impulse in search of doing what gives one pleasure.
